Home Gardening Tips

Gardening can provide many benefits for you. Besides being a positive leisure activity, gardening also has many health benefits. Gardening is actually an easy activity. Because after starting, you also still have to take care so that the plants can stay alive and even bear fruit. But don’t worry, even though it may seem like a hassle at first, taking care of plants can actually be a good therapy for you, especially in improving your mood and mental health.

For beginners, there are several things that need to be considered before starting to make your own garden at home, such as the following.

1. Location
The first step that needs to be done if you want to start gardening at home is to choose the right place. Make sure the place you choose can receive direct sunlight, because most plants need to get light for several hours a day.

2. Types of plants
After choosing the right place, then you can start choosing the desired plant. Beginners are advised to choose seeds or plants that tend to be easy to care for, such as cucumbers, letus aka lettuce, chilies, and tomatoes. If you want to grow flowers or other ornamental plants, sunflowers, geraniums, and calendula can be the right choice.

3. The soil
The soil that will be used for planting also needs to be prepared in advance so that the plants can grow well. The first step that needs to be done is to clean old plants or wild plants if there are still planted in the area. After that, dig a little soil to make it more loose. This will help the plant roots to grow more easily later. You can use a shovel to do this and try to do this when the soil is slightly damp. Digging dry soil will damage the soil structure.

After the plants are planted properly, don’t forget to take care of them regularly. You need to be diligent in pulling weeds that can interfere with their growth. In addition, leaves or damaged plant parts also need to be removed before infecting other plant parts. If you maintain plants that can grow quite tall like tomatoes or oranges, support the stems with wood so that when they bear fruit, the stems are strong to hold and not be damaged.
